Hal Sutton entered into the Golf Course design business in 1999 with the opening of his first signature course, Olde Oaks Golf Club, located in Bossier City, Louisiana. Olde Oaks is a 27-hole course that is open to the public and has received great reviews.

In May 2000, Sutton entered into an agreement with Nicklaus Design. Nicklaus Design will provide all technical design work an all future Sutton Signature Courses. Sutton stated, "Nicklaus Design brings an experienced group of experts along with state of the art technical production services in the area of course design. I feel very fortunate to be able to partner with the people that are behind the scenes in Jack's courses. My philosophy is to create an experience that will challenge the scratch golfer but will also be fun and playable for the high handicapper.

By teaming with Nicklaus Design Group, I know we will be able to achieve my goals." Through Nicklaus Design's production services, Hal Sutton Design will be provided with all technical support required to complete the conceptual and plan documents necessary to design a golf course. Specific support includes staff and computer design work relating to routings; strategy collaboration; design and feature details; technical specifications; and agronomy services.

A Design Associate (staff designer) from Nicklaus Design will be assigned to each project to work with Hal Sutton throughout the development of a golf course, from initial routing and strategy development through construction and grand opening. The Design Associate will also work in coordination with the contractor to ensure that the integrity of the design is maintained throughout construction. Mr. Sutton will make several visits during construction to finalize all routings and strategy aspects of the golf course, and will preside over the grand opening of the golf course.
